Save A Life

I was reading the January issue of Women's Health and was shocked when I read this tidbit:

"It's not only financial banks that are affected by the economic meltdown. Blood banks have seen a major decline in donations - as much as 15 percent in some states. With corporate cutbacks and unemployment at an all-time high, company blood drives are drawing fewer people or not happening at all. Still, every two seconds in the U.S., someone needs blood."


Why is your blood needed? According to the American Red Cross the blood supply needs to be continually replenished. Only 38% of Americans are eligible to donate blood and of those only 8% do. That amounts to only about 3 out of every 100 people.

That's some scary business! And to think 1 pint of blood can save up to 3 lives. YOU can make a difference. Here are the next few blood drives coming up in our area:
